Coccyx

I already told you all about my run this past Saturday.
I was supposed to do 8 but I ended up doing 7.42 and felt good about it. My pace is getting quicker and my longer runs are getting... dare I say, easier.
Sunday night I felt like shit because I have been eating shit and not hydrating.
I laid on the couch for a good portion of the night only to get up to move to the bed.
Monday I woke up and I had this little pain in my butt.
Literally.
Like where my tailbone is, kinda at the top of my ass crack.
Yup.

It wasn't too bad, but since then it's been getting progressively worse. It's not unbearable but it's super annoying. Anytime I laugh (or fart) or adjust how I'm sitting it feel like someone is kicking me in the butt.
I honestly didn't think anything about it, and I just casually mentioned it to my trainer. We both looked it up and turns out it's an actual running injury caused by running on uneven ground.. aka New England roads.
It's called a strained coccyx.

Turns out the cure is Yoga... go figure.
My trainer found this awesome yoga video on Youtube for runners and it's a nice long one without the whole

"You're walking through a forest, look for the golden glowing light, breath in the light"

I personally can not stand that kind of yoga. I'll post the video here so you can give it a go.

Have you ever had an embarrassing injury?? Tell me about it while I sit here icing my bum.

  3. My dad bruised his coccyx once by hitting his bum against the tailgate of his truck or something another, and the very next day he had to drive the family 200 miles to the beach. He was in a hissy fit of pain. Understandably!

  4. I fell off a platform one time and landed right on my tailbone as well. Nothing like bringing one of those donut seats to work while it heals!!

  7. Ummm, hmmm. No, can't think of one that's embarrassing. Must have slipped my mind. :) I did step off a chair and totally bum up my ankle once. I guess I stepped down wrong and it twisted or s/t. I laid on the floor panting for quite a bit (you know, from the pain, b/c that helps apparently) before I literally drug myself over to the phone to call my mom who worked a few blocks away (Andy worked an hour away). She came over and helped me up off the floor. Went to the dr, had to wear an air brace thingy. All b/c I was taking my curtains down to wash them. Won't make that mistake again!
